FDU Holiday Classic

Great Job on Saturday at the FDU Holiday Classic. The weather may have prevented some teams from competing but we were able to make it. Again, Great Job and results are posted.

Parent Meeting

Parent Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 10, 6pm in the LGI of the main building. All parents are asked to attend.

Indoor Info

Cardio Conditioning will begin on Tuesday, November 10 at 3pm meeting on Midland Ave. The captains will be there Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday November 10-24 from 3-3:30pm.

Practice- 1st day is Monday, November 30, on the track at 3pm.

Physicals- All forms MUST be submitted to the nurse in order to practice.

Graet Job this season. The team finished 5th at that the SEC & County Meet, 11th at the State Sectionals. This was the largest team in recent years!

With the second SEC meet completed, we're currently 1-1. We beat Columbia last week and lost to Millburn by 2 points. Next week we race against Livingston & Bloomfield on Tuesday with the Passaic County Coaches Invite this Saturday.

Today is our first Cross Country meet of the 2009 Season against Columbia High School at Branch Brook Park. Bus will depart from Midland Ave at 2:50. The race times are as follows: Mixed Frosh- 4pm, Varsity Girls - 4:15pm, Mixed JV - 5:30

From the High School
Chestnut St. to Grove St. Make a right onto Grove to Belleville Ave.
Left onto Belleville to Franklin Ave. Right onto Franklin (towards Clara Mass Hospital). Franklin Ave to Heller Ave. Left onto Heller (Burger King). Make the 1st right onto Branch Brook Pl into park. Left at stop sign and bear left back into the park. The starting line approx 1/2 mile on the right by the flagpole.

As we conclude the second week of practice, our roster boasts the largest number of girls in recent years. Now its time to train and get ready for the upcoming season.

Monday 8/24 mandatory concussion screening 8:30 am meet in the LGI, main building of the high school. Practice immediately after.

Cross Country

As the summer comes to an end, I'm sure you're excited for the upcoming school year and Cross Country season. The season will officially start on Monday, August 24th 3pm at Woodman Field. There are a few more pre-season sessions left on Tuesday's and Thursday's. Next week 10am only and the week of the 17th 10am & 5pm. If you haven't yet, you should be running 2-5 miles/day so on the 24th you'll be ready to go.

Our first meet is tentatively scheduled for Saturday September 12th.

Physicals should have been turned in by now. If not, they must be turned in ASAP. Also, every athlete must complete a pre-concussion screening with the trainers. I will schedule a day and time, possible the first day of practice. This is mandatory in order to practice.

Double Header

On Saturday, April 18 the team will be competing at the Hudson County Relays and the New York Relays. The majority of the team will travel to Secaucus High School for the Hudson County Relays while the roster for Penn Relays 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 will travel to New York's Ichan Stadium. This weekend's good weather is sure to produce great times. Order of events for Hudson County is posted. Go BLUE!!

At the parent meeting I mentioned the possibility of doing a team order with Eastbay. While I was able to make a contact at their corporate office, I was not able to solidify an ordering process. I will continue to work on it but if you are interested in purchasing trainers and competition footwear, check out eastbay.com.

Competition footwear is more expensive but typically last longer. When shopping for spikes, it's best to purchase ones with rubber soles. Rubber soled spikes are the only competition shoe that can be used for the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Fleet Feet on Midland and Bloomfield Ave also carry a selection of trainers and competition footwear as does Modells and Sports Authority. If you go to Fleet Feet, mention your purchase is for the high school team and a discount is given.

If you purchase footwear and are not certain, a coach can evaluate the shoe and they can always be returned if not worn.

Pasta Party

Tonight from 7-9pm in the Multipurpose room at Woodman Field. Freshman- pasta, Sophomores-salad or bread, Juniors - dessert, Seniors - beverages. Come out and join your team for a night of food and fun.

Spring Season is Underway

The girls spring track & field season is into it's second week of practice with a strong roster including over 20 freshman girls. The season will open with the field team at Kearny Relays on Friday April 3 and the runner on Saturday at Indian Hills High School. It's sure to be a great season!! GO BLUE!!!

Athletic Physicals will be offered by our School Doctor ONLY for students who do not have their own doctor on THURSDAY FEBRUARY 5th 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. (early dismissal day). Athletes must have parent/caregiver permission prior to seeing the School Doctor. Forms can be obtained in Health and Athletic Offices.
