The team has been on the move with championship season upon us. Last week they continued to impress with a strong showing at the SEC Championships.
This weekend they will compete at the County Championships held at Woodman. Friday's events have a 4pm start and Saturday 10:30am field events and 11am running.
Parents/guardians- this is our biggest and best fundraiser of the year. Many of you have been in communication with Bonnie Knox and have volunteered. We are always looking for more volunteers and donations of goods.

Update
The season is now entering the "Championship" phase. We have completed our dual meets and beginning next Friday at Leagues, it's 3 per event. This does not mean that the season is over for those not in the top 3. In the past I have always allowed everyone to continue to train beyond the County Frosh/Soph Meet (Monday, May 16).
Today is the County Relays at Livingston High School and tomorrow is the Frosh/Novice Relays at Woodman. Those not running that were at practice yesterday will be able to attend the meet today. The team will be dismissed after 7th period.
Tomorrow's meet is another opportunity for the concession stand to raise money. Bonnie sent out an email regarding this meet and Counties on the 20th & 21st. Please do your best to volunteer.
As always, thank you for your continued support.

From Bonnie Knox
Good day, Montclair Track and Field parents and boosters,
The Booster Club has already been hard at work, selling various food items during the dual meets. Hearty thanks to all the supportive parents who have led this effort!
This week we have been stocking the concession stand for the Frosh/Soph/Novice meet to be held at Woodman Field this Saturday, May 7, from 9:00am to aproximately 1:00pm. So far we have over 16 schools participating and, if it is like last year, we will be very busy for about 4 hours.
Please let me know if you are able to help out as soon as possible. If you can, let me know what hours you will be available. I know some of you have already spoken to me in person, but if you would, please let me know by answering this email with the exact times you could help.
In addition, we need donations of Gatorade (or its equivalent), and baked goods, as well as fruit. Individually wrapped bunches of grapes, strawberries, sliced oranges, as well as whole fruit have also been a huge hit (as well as a healthy one). Since this meet starts early --coaches and athletes begin arriving by 7:30-- breakfast items, like donuts and muffins, are particularly popular.
Brookdale ShopRite has donated $1,000 in vouchers for this meet and Essex Counties, so I will purchase many items, including sliced bagels and condiments.
As an aside, I have been informed that also on Sat, May 7 there will be an Essex County softball game as well as a County baseball game starting at 2:00pm on opposite ends of Woodman Field. If anyone is interested, we could take a short break and work another hour or two while these games are going on and make additional money. Even if we just extend for an hour it might be worth it. Of course, all of this depends on the weather . . .
In addition, we need to think about the biggest meet we host, The Essex County Individual Championships to be held on Friday, May 20th from 4-6pm and Saturday, May 21st from 10am to 3pm. While I can stock the concession stand and help to organize and be there most of Friday afternoon, I personally will be missing the meet on Saturday. This is the first time since 1996 that I will miss this day (boohoo) but it is for a good cause. My daughter, who is the reason I first became involved with the track team, is flying from Colorado for a bridal shower in her honor. I have talked to several people individually, but so far no one has been able to be "in charge" on Saturday, May 21. It is a big undertaking I know, so if two people would be willing to share the duties, or a committee, perhaps we could meet at my house next week and get all of the details ironed out. I have lots of information. . . all my records will leave little to chance! Please let me know if you would be able to meet about the County Meet next week, and which of these evenings (7pm) on Mon, May 9, Tues, May 10 or Wed, May 11, you could attend a meeting.
Meanwhile, do let me know about your availability for this Saturday, May 7. Please pass this on to other parents, particulary the parents of the boys, since I have very few of their addresses. Thanks, and see you soon!
